Customer Reviews
Wonderful and funny.
I find this book very good. The recipes are very easy to follow, and the fact, that the measurings are american, isn't a problem. It was easy to get it translatet in to European measurements. Just use a dictionary, and make a list in the beginning of the book! Easy.
The recipes are as said, very easy to follow. And, for a European, often quite funny - the combination of ingredients are often unexpected and surprisingly.
Living in Europe, I have had no problems with finding all the ingredients, and if I once couldn't find it in the local store, I just replaced it with another. The recipes are often so simple, that I just have been using them as inspiration for new, and just as delicious, recipes.
I use this book very often.
Yum Yum Yum
Ok, this book is American and so the measurements are in cups. Please ignore the reviewer who gave up on the book after realising this, it couldn't be easier to either buy some American cups (which are really useful when cooking generally particularly for liquid ingredients) or just use a conversion chart which you can find after a simple online search or there is usually a conversion chart in any food magazine. It really is worth it, you can't buy proper cookie books in the UK.
This book is fab, there are old favourites like chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal and raisin, and also some more unusual and inventive. My favourite so far has to be chocolate milkshake cookies, which use softened ice cream and malt powder - they really taste like milkshake!
All the recipes are easy to follow and most only have a few simple steps. I have not come across any ingredients that I couldn't find. The book refers to all purpose flour, but this is just ordinary plain flour. This book is suitable for a baking beginner and most would be suitable for making (and eating!) with children. A fantastic little book.
Disappointed Lazy Cook
What a disappointment. After reading the wonderful write up I ordered this book desperate to make some of the lovely sounding cookies only to find that the one piece of information not mentioned which would have been of great help to me was that all the recipes are in American measurements. Unfortunately I am not such a keen cook that I can be bothered to do the coversions so I have given it to the school book stall! Sorry.
