Synopsis
If you love American cookies and muffins this book should appeal. It is written especially for the British home baker, with over 60 fun and simple recipes. All measures are by weight or in fluid ounces, and the ingredients are readily available at local shops or supermarkets. And for the first time we find out why Americans call a biscuit a cookie and a fairy cake a muffin. Apparently it has to do with the American Revolution! The book gives detailed information about the required ingredients and utensils, and step-by-step explanations of how to make cookies and muffins. The book is full of helpful hints, especially for anyone new to baking. When making the banana, nut and rolled oat cookies, for example, Peter's tip is "do not mash the bananas with your feet, they are really hard to get off the floor!" This book takes a humorous approach to baking and is as much about having fun in the kitchen as making tempting American treats.

Magnificant Muffins, Cool Cookies and Tremendous Traybakes!5
What a fantastic book!
Not only is it in lbs and grammes, for us Brits, but it is so easy to follow.
I have tried nearly half of the recipes in the book and all, without exception, have turned out fantastic.
The instructions are so easy that my children help me to bake and we have tried many more adventurous things than we would normally.
Even when I do not have quite the right equipment the recipes adapt so easily to different size, or shape cooking containers.
There is even a fantastic recipe for a 'No bake, Tray bake' - Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch - its quick, easy, cheap to make and my kids ask for it in their lunchbox every day!
I have tried many baking and cook books, but this is definately at the front of my cooking shelf.

Good Muffins4
I was given this book for Christmas and have mad about 70% of the recipes in it. The muffins are always delicious and the cookies are excellent. Te only problem is that they disappear really quickly. Watch out for some of the times though - but that's true for every book i think. Also the brownies are quite dry (both recipes) so you may want to take them out early or look for a different recipe.
