DVD Description
Blake's 7 S3 - Collector's edition In the third century of the second calendar, after the chaos of the intergalactic wars, a powerful dictatorship has risen to dynamic proportions and engulfed most of the populated worlds. Liberty has become a crime punishable by death, and the majority of the population lives in a drug-induced state of docility. This tyrannical authority fulfils George Orwell's prophecy of 1984 to its most terrifying extremes. This government is known as the Federation. Each world has its share of rebels who either turned to crime or the Resistance. This is the story of one such group of rebels, led by a man named Blake. His group is largely composed of escaped convicts, thieves and smugglers, who are thrown together by chance. Episode List: Aftermath; Powerplay; Volcano; Dawn of the Gods; Harvest of Kairos; City at the Edge of the World; Children of Auron; Rumours of Death; Sarcophagus; Ultraworld; Moloch; Death-Watch; Terminal

Hurry up series 4!!!!!!
It's great to see series 3 out on DVD!
25+ years before "Firefly", we have "Blake's 7". A groundbreaking and daring show that is a mix of Robin Hood, The Great Escape, Star Wars, and The Magnificant Seven.
While not the best series of the bunch (series 4 being better), this series still has a number of classic episodes.
Classic episodes to look out for include:
* Aftermath. Apart from Dayna's introduction and background, this is a fairly stock story.
* The Harvest of Kairos. A chance for some piracy goes awry thanks to an old acquaintance of Tarrant's.
* The City at the Edge of the World. Vila, for once, saves the day. A surprisingly underrated story.
* Rumours of Death. A great Avon story that wraps up some old character background points. In this season's Top 3.
* Sarcophagus. While an acquired taste, Tanith Lee does an interesting job at mixing sci-fi with fantasy. Tanith's series 4 story "Sand" is far more interesting, however...
"Death-Watch". Another top-3 winner, this deals with a clever ploy by Servalan to expand the Federation by interfering with war games set up by two soverign star systems. Highly atmospheric and gripping, this is a must-see.
"Terminal". The original 'season finale', we should be glad series 4 got made! That nitpick aside, this story is still a competent and highly enjoyable one. Vila gets a few great moments as well.
Series 3 and 4 are even better than Series 1 & 2
With series 3, Blake's 7 moved from being a very good series to an outstanding series. It's hard to say exactly why series 3 is better than series 2; I think a number of small factors add up. The weak actor who played Travis version 2 is gone; Gareth Thomas is gone; the stories are, on the whole, slightly better. The special effects are still low-budget BBC, but that doesn't matter so much as the scripts and the actors.
If you like SF at all: buy this series.
Blake 7 Series 3 - SciFi at its best
The series was well worth the wait. I recommend all three sets and look forward to the release of the fourth series.
