Product Description

Holly Macintosh is sitting round her kitchen table with her oldest friends – friends she hasn’t seen since school - now reunited by an unexpected tragedy and catching up on the past 20 years. On the surface, they are all successful and happy. But scratch a little deeper after that extra glass of wine and it’s not quite so straightforward: Paul and Anna are struggling to have a baby, Saffron the actress is still waiting for that really big break that – at 39 – is looking less and less likely, and Olivia, always the wallflower of the group, is newly single and mourning her lost love. And what about Holly Mac? Can she and her husband Marcus get their marriage back on track for the sake of the children? Or has someone just come back into her life who will change everything forever?

About the Author
Jane Green is a former journalist who gave up her job on the Daily Express to write a real woman’s account of being single in the city. That account became Jane’s first novel, Straight Talking. A huge success, Straight Talking was followed by nine more bestselling novels: Jemima J, Mr Maybe, Bookends, Babyville, Spellbound, The Other Woman, Life Swap and Second Chance. Jane has four children and lives in Connecticut.

Customer Reviews

Sensitive, poignant, enjoyable5
I guess it all depends what you like to read, but I was attracted to this book by the title and the cover ... and from that, it was exactly how I hoped it would be. I found myself quite involved with the book and the characters and found the story to be understanding, poignant and very enjoyable.

Not as good as I'd hoped2
I was given this book as a birthday present and was really looking forward to reading it after having enjoyed previous Jane Green novels and generally being a fan of easy to read 'chick-lit' but I was left a bit disappointed.
I found myself not really caring about what happened to any of the characters - except Paul and Anna who I liked.
Like other reviewers, I thought that the idea of old friends getting back in touch was a good one but so much more could have been done. In the end I just skip-read it really quickly to get it finished.

A MUST READ FOR ANY CHICK LIT FAN!!!5
Well I must say after reading all the other reviews for this i am dissapointed! in the so called jane green fans not the book!! I thought this was brilliant as all her books are! The story was believable the charactors likeable and the fact it was not based on just 2 main charactors as most books are made it even better! I read this book from start to finish over one weekend as I literally could not put it down!

please do not listen to the other reviews and give it a chance its an amazing read!!!
