This is Harris's best novel to date.
DAILY MAIL, 4 May 2007
A delicious urban fairytale, where killer shoes and Aztec myths
battle it out with true love and the seductive power of chocolate.
EASY LIVING MAGAZINE, June 2007
Here is a truly delectable offering... Lush and bewitching, with a
dark, mystical heart, this is a novel you can't help but devour greedily.
Customer Reviews
A great summer or rainy days read
Loved this book and had difficulty putting it down until I'd finished it. You definitely need to read Chocolat first in order to set the scene for this sequel.
Loved to hate the character of Zozie, who I'd expect to be the star character if the book is made into a film. Bit disappointed in the "wimpiness" of Vianne (the main character from Chocolat) but, for me, that made this book refreshingly different and I'd say it was a brave move by the author.
Loved the way the narrative switched from one character to another too.
Furious!
Having pre-ordered this, I waited eagerly for several weeks - a new book by Joanne Harris is worth any wait. But NOT a re-issue of The Lollipop Shoes. Why didn't Amazon point out that this was just the US version of a book available in the UK for some time? They did eactly the same with The French Kitchen - different cover, and new title, My French Kitchen. The book is superb, if you don't have The Lollipop Shoes then do buy it, but I'm not happy with this type of marketing.
BUYERS BEWARE
This is The Girl With the Lollipop Shoes under a different title. I really think that Amazon should warn buyers that this is the case. I sent my copy back straight away. This is happening more and more especially with American versions which have different titles I have been caught out before.
