Synopsis
Sadie, Nicky, Poppy and Kate are four women who are on the surface sexy, confident and wealthy - but each of them is trapped in a loveless and sometimes violent marriage to four of the most feared London gangsters. For years, they have lived a life of idle luxury - shopping, lunching, and occasionally playing away - but all the time loyally staying behind the scenes while their men rule the East End criminal underworld with violence and terror. But times change and events conspire and they decide to fight back and take their men on at their own game. Because when it comes to getting the money, the female is definitely more deadly than the male...

Customer Reviews

Not Mandasue Heller either4
I saw this book and decided to buy it, being a Martina Cole/Mandasue Heller fan. But I was surprised.
It was nothing like I expected it to be. From the first page, I found myself just reading, not because the plot was so scintillating i couldn't put it down, but because it was a light, easy read. Perfect for filling a few hours on a rainy day or a light read before bedtime.
It is not rocket science, it doesn't tell you how to split the atom, but its' good.
It follows the 4 gangsters wives, Poppy, Niki, Sadie and Kate. After one of the husbands is put into prison, it is basically about how his wife and her cohorts go about trying to get by when the money runs dry.
I thought that the writer kept the pace up throughout the book, and the storyline was really easy to follow. The chapters are pretty small too, and you can put it down, not pick it up for a few days but still remember the plot.
It isn't as indepth or as dark as Martina Cole/Mandasue Heller, but even so, it's a good story which keeps up a cracking pace. What I liked about this book was that it didn't have too many characters, basically just the 4 women and their men. But one drawback was I didn't really connect with any of the characters enough to care about what happens to them, and I don't like that in a book.
So if you're at a loose end you could do worse than have a look at this book. Its quick and easy to read, easy to follow, not exactly chick-lit, but in some parts, just as light (and in some places,) just as fluffy

Let Down1
Only one word to describe this book really...awful. I love the Martina Cole and Mandasue Heller genre. Having read all their books I was in search of a new author.

What a waste of time, effort and money this book was, a total disappointment. Poor characters, poor story and appalling writing.

Please save yourselves

Rainy Day Read4
Curl up on a wet, cold, rainy day with a cup of hot chocolate and lose yourself in this book for a few enjoyable hours. Very easy read and very enjoyable to lose the stress and strains of life for a good few hours. Loved it and will look out for more publications from this author.
