Notes from a Big CountryNotes from a Big Country by Bill Bryson
Buy new: £6.99 / Used from: £0.01
Hilarious. Really draws you in. Found out about when I had to analyze an extract from it for part of my English Language mock.
Chinese Cinderella: The Secret Story of an Unwanted Daughter (Puffin Teenage Books)Chinese Cinderella: The Secret Story of an Unwanted Daughter (Puffin Teenage Books) by Adeline Yen Mah
Buy new: £3.99 / Used from: £0.01
Really well-told and empowering, too. It's interesting to learn about how all of Adeline Yen Mah's story fits in with the Communist China background.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter 5) (Harry Potter)Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter 5) (Harry Potter) by J.K. Rowling
Buy new: £5.99 / Used from: £1.99
Loved this one, and the four that preceeded it. Go and read it!
The Catcher in the RyeThe Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Buy new: £4.90 / Used from: £1.09
This is the best and easiest 'classic' I've read. I love how hypocritical the protaganist is.
Twelfth Night (No Fear Shakespeare)Twelfth Night (No Fear Shakespeare) by William Shakespeare
Buy new: £5.59 / Used from: £22.99
I acted in this at 12 (as the sailor and the officer no less!), and it's funny when you understand it. I love SparkNotes No Fear for translating Shakespeare and putting it side-by-side with the play.
Size 12 Is Not Fat: A Heather Wells MysterySize 12 Is Not Fat: A Heather Wells Mystery by Meg Cabot
Buy used from: £0.36
(size 16 in the UK)...bought this when in Orlando, it's funny and relatable to a certain extent. The protagonist is great.
The Philosophy Gym: 25 Short Adventures in ThinkingThe Philosophy Gym: 25 Short Adventures in Thinking by Stephen Law

Great, very interesting. Get thinking!
Speak (Bite)Speak (Bite) by Halse Anderson Laurie

Funny, slightly tearjerking in places, simply very good.
