Walle DVD5
My son loves the Walle film, we have to watch it over and over. This DVD is fine but be warned as Import won't play on every DVD player - have to make sure your DVD player will support it.

An Edifying Spectacle5
This is the one disc version of the Disney film Wall-E, which concerns a robot who is charged with the cleaning up of Earth after some form of environmental apocalypse. The surviving humans have taken up residence in a giant orbiting hotel until such time as Wall-E has finished his allotted task of cleaning up the mess and the Earth becomes inhabitable again. Wall-E and one small insect are the sole inhabitants of the Earth, it would appear.
Though basically a walking trash-compactor, Wall-E also has feelings, even the one you call love. He cannot speak but makes expressive vocal sounds and has large expressive eyes. His emotions are really awakened by the arrival of a robot called Eve, who has been sent to look for signs of life on Earth. The story is partly the story of Wall-E's love for Eve and partly that of humanity's fight to return home. It is a fight because some of the robots do not want to interrupt the status quo, and are prepared to use force. If there is one thing that films have taught us it is that robots are a self-serving bunch who will attempt the overthrow of their human masters at the first opportunity. And so it is here; not all the robots, not Wall-E, Eve, etc., but the ones who have been used to positions of administrative power. In robots no less than humans, power corrupts.

As the main character cannot speak, there is no proper dialogue for much of the film, particularly the early part. This is a brave and commendable move on Disney's part, and one that works brilliantly. Wall-E is a touching and thought-provoking film and thankfully the environmental apocalypse scenario is never used as an excuse for moralising or hectoring. It is left to the viewer to draw his own conclusions. Intelligently-told and ultimately uplifting, this is a film that will appeal to both children and adults.

Also included are two shorts, Burn-E,a spin-off of the main picture, and a very amusing theatrical short, Presto, concerning a magician and his uncooperative rabbit. Well worth watching.
