Not for dovecote owners
The section on understanding doves is good. However, if you have or are thinking of having a traditional dovecote, as often seen in Britain, you will find little of use in this book. It is about birds being kept in aviaries and cages.
Most of the book describes different species of dove, but don't be deceived by the picture on the front. There is no mention anywhere in the book of the white fantail variety!
There is no reference to homing or dovecotes. Beware!
Book suits breeders
Like the previous review, I also think that this had nothing on how to keep the doves in dovecotes (as the book is from the US).
This book was really for those that keep the doves Avaries and breed them. It has info on various different breeds (no fantail or wood pigeon), so it might appeal to those interested.
It gives info on feeding, health and problems and a bit on dove behaviour, which quite was useful for me, but there wasn't really anything on actually keeping them, nesting etc., so I didn't find it very useful. Still, it would benifit a breeder.
