A waste of time and money1
I am a regular traveller to Bangladesh and normally find the Lonely Planet guides very useful. My copy of this edition arrived just before I went out for three months so I took it. I wish I hadn't, the previopus edition with the boat on the cover is much more informative. In the latest edition many places to stay have been dropped out even though they still operate. The author has a strange atitude - not just with his recommendations of places to stay (particularly in Dhaka) but also with warnings about buying conch shell bangles (they come with bad karma).
If you think I am the only one thinking this way, everyone I met in Bangladesh travelling said the same. Save your money and look out for the previous edition secondhand. Mine is not for sale but I do have a copy of the latest edition!!

Very disappointing2
As a regular visitor to Bangladesh, I'm keen on keeping up to date with the latest that Bangladesh has to offer. I've found previous editions of the Lonely Planet Guides to Bangladesh very informative and well-written.

I was really looking forward to the latest edition of the the guide. However, when I saw how much information it lacked (You can't expect people to have bought previous editions) and the lacklustre writing style, I was compelled to return it ASAP.

I was deeply disappointed with what I read and I strongly suggest to all those who want to buy a guide to Bangladesh to not buy this edition, but try and get hold of a previous edition. The current edition lacks background information and history, and is only half as thick as previous editions.

Bangladesh (Lonely Planet Country Guide)

Good but not fulfilling at all3
I bought this with some particular interest before my recent travel to Bangladesh. The book gave enough information about different historical and tourist locations. But it heavily lacked on information relating to the northern part of the country. Also, not enough information about the Chittagong Hill tracks area where several smaller indigenous nations reside. The country has lots to offer and the volume of this book does not certainly fulfil that. However, since not many travel books are available on Bangladesh, this is surely a good start.
