Customer Reviews

Vital book to have on your job search/career book shelf!5
HUGELY recommend both this book and How to Handle Your Recruitment Consultant (actually bought both at the same time) I thought both may be pretty similar, but as you can probably tell I was keen to know quite how on earth to get somewhere with the recruitment consultants (many of whom I hadn't been very impressed by). I can truthfully say that I am very glad I bought BOTH books. Truth is - you can get all the CV and interview books in the world but they don't actually cover this key area of everybody's job search: the actual business of dealing with and handling recruitment consultants.

I think it is as a direct result of buying reading and learning from both of these books that I built great relationships with my consultants and have even in these credit crunch times recieved several job offers for jobs I want! I have actually been able to pick and choose and I genuinely believe this is thanks to both of these books, and that's why I am putting reviews on the pages for both of them - I nearly didn't buy both but I am glad I did! They are very different in style and yet each brings something very useful and insightful to the table.

Well done to both the author of The Definitive Job Book: Rules from the Recruitment Insiders
and to the author of
How to Handle Your Recruitment Consultant: Brilliant insider tips, tricks & secrets to maximise the performance of your recruitment consultant and secure ... Out Salary You Know You Want and Deserve for spotting this gap in the market and plugging it so masterfully!

In both cases I thought some of the things they were saying seemed obvious, but then I realised that obvious as they may be - the points they were making were right - I wasn't actually doing the things I should have been. Both provided me with a sort of kick in the bottom to get myself into gear.

5 Stars to both - they are vital books to have on your job search/career book shelf!

If need to buy a book on job hunting, buy this one5
Easy to read but more importantly easy to understand and to implement with a host of dos and don'ts supported by excellent commentaries from many hands-on recruitment experts.

Whether you are comfortable in your job role or feeling down because no suitable job roles are coming your way this book is a must read. It will inspire you to act, make you think more laterally and is a real tonic for improving your methodology in seeking fresh challenges (Anne Watson rightly states looking for a challenge is "one of the most hackneyed expressions of all times" better for you to think "I have reached a stage in my current job where I rarely encounter difficult situations..... I am best when the adrenalin is running..... I am ambitious and ready to learn from new situations....." There is plenty of great advice throughout this book.

A mine of information5
This book is absolutely essential reading both for those seeking sound advice
in how to achieve success in nailing that first career and for those looking for a career change.I wouldn't be without it.I particularly enjoyed reading the comments and tips from successful business leaders.
