Editorial Reviews
David Sexton, Evening Standard
[Child] makes what he does seem simple. If it is, though, it's strange nobody else has managed it so well.
Maxim
Reacher fans will love it...taking justice into his own hands and to hell with the wos'name...a solid inter-Bond-film substitute.
Mirror
Classic Child...Reacher, both a man's man and a ladies' man, proves once again that he's also his own man.

Reacher Rubbish
Sorry to say it, but this one's a real duffer. Terrible plot, barely plausible characters and about 200 pages too long. It just ambles along without ever getting going. Like most here, I'm a big Reacher fan (read everything else) but this one really fails to hit the mark. In my opinion, Mr Lee is flogging the Reacher franchise way too hard. He needs to step off the gravy train for a serious length of time - maybe that way he'll get Reacher back on track.
Avoid this book.
is Reacher finished
The Reacher books ahve always been overhyped and overwritten. But they have always been fun and fast paced. Child used to keep the pace up and the energy high. I have alwasy felt his books are 50 odd pages to long though. This one was about 421 pages to long.
I can see Child now - looking at a map and seeing two towns... one nice and one nasty. Trouble is he forced a story into an idea and came out with a silly and tedious read, where subplots led nowhere and the climax wasn't a climax. It is poorly conceieved, lazily written and dull.
alot of his twists are predictable, that usally doesn't matter as the pace drags you to the conclusion which is always interesting and satisfying. There are three or four pants entries in the series and Child needs to do something clever to resurrect our faith in Reacher...
It's just a fiction novel - don't buy it if you want War & Peace
This is Jack Reacher doing what he does best. Sort of a non super-hero who picks up his uniform in a thrift store. Don't expect a Booker Prize winning novel but do expect something that you WILL enjoy and WON'T want to put down.
It may not be Lees best in the series, but who's to judge - it's all in the eye of the beholder. I enjoyed it, as I have for everyone of them so far and there are many other authors such as Coben, Patterson, Cussler and Grisham that have similar threads and are just as enjoyable.
Just read it and enjoy.
