Published in 2008 (2nd edition) by Power Publications, this paperback book entitled 'Pub Walks in North Surrey: Forty Circular Walks Around North Surrey Inns' is by John Quarendon and contains 40 circular walks based around a good public house with accompanying sketch maps that give the walker some idea of the local interest and wild life. The walks all fit into the 4-7 mile bracket and are designed to start and finish at the pub. Where there are other free parking facilities en route, these have been indicated on the maps so that walkers who would prefer to start at a different point on the route and end up at the pub for lunchtime may comfortably do so. South Surrey is endowed with rolling downland, picturesque villages and well-publicised trails, whilst the North of the county is fast becoming a sprawling conurbation. Some of the old village pubs have been taken over by large brewery chains or closed, or their characters and names changed. It is hoped therefore that this book introduces the walker to some great pubs and great walks - details of all the inns are provided with opening times (best to check in advance in case they have changed since publication) and there are samples from their menus and selections of ales [all correct as of publication in 2008; again subject to change with the passage of time].
