I was born on May 27, 1900, the fifth child of a miner and his wife. My first vivid memory was of going to the Treorchy Fair with my parents. Of course there was no tram cars in those days, no transport of any kind, only the horse-drawn brake. I remember quite well going in the horse-drawn brake to Treorchy Fair, which I think was situated on the piece of waste ground behind the Lion Hotel in Treorchy. But my most vivid memory was standing outside a show when they brought a lion out. And I remember the blonde girl, dressed in tights, and the trainer made the lion open its mouth and the girl put her face right into the lions mouth! And I know I felt very frightened.

Most Informative Book on Rhondda
This is the most informative history book I have bought on the Rhondda Valleys. I would be interested to hear more about this author.
