haunted guildford
I am very sceptical when it comes to ghost stories but the way this book is written makes it interesting even for people who don't believe in ghosts. Not only does it thrill you with tales of the spirits of Guildford it gives you an insight into the colourful history of some of the towns buildings. It is also full of photographs and illustrations of the haunted locations.
Discover the identity of the mysterious lady in grey seen around Tunsgate; learn about where Guildford's criminals were detained and executed and just how many ghosts there are in the Kings Head; possibly the towns most haunted building. I found it very hard to put down and it made me want to attend the Guildford ghost tour so I could hear more from the very talented Philip Hutchinson. A must for anyone living in guildford or for that matter anyone with an interest in ghosts.
Informative and accessible
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, this little book is a fascinating account of all the ghost stories in and around Guildford - from ghosts walking the streets to those appearing in shops and hotels in the town.
Written by Philip Hutchinson who also does the highly entertaining and definitely recommended Ghost Tour of Guildford, the book tells the stories of each location divided into areas of the town, which makes it easy to find the places if you decide to have a look around the town yourself. The style of writing tries to put across the strange experiences that people without being overly dramatic, which is refreshing.
