From the Publisher
There is a passion for travel and discovery at Footprint that has been reflected in our publishing since the South American Handbook was first published back in 1924. More than 80 years on, our aim is still simple: to give travellers a refreshingly different view that helps them to follow their own route and have a unique, memorable experience. Over 100 current guides reflect the many ways in which people enjoy independent travel; whether exploring ancient sites, seeking an adrenalin-filled adventure or relaxing on the beach, our authors do all they can to bring our customers the very best of each destination we cover.

Who are Footprint’s™ customers?
Footprint books are used by seasoned travellers of all ages and nationalities. What they have in common is a determination to travel independently and to get their own unique experience of the world. Footprint customers love adventure, are resourceful and enjoy getting off the beaten track. They are inquisitive about different cultures and sensitive towards the communities they encounter.

What makes Footprint different?
An ever-increasing number of travellers are discovering Footprint books, taking them on trips, enjoying an approach to travel that is distinctly different from other guides.

An unparalleled depth of cultural, historical information for each destination enables travellers to get a true understanding of the places they visit and supports responsible travel.

From the Author
Christabelle Dilks fell in love with Argentina â€" and an Argentine man â€" at 16, when her family went to live in Bahia Blanca in the Pampas. Two years later the Falklands War broke out and suddenly she had to leave her first love and close friends. She became an actress, then a film maker, working at the National Theatre, Channel 4 and the BBC. Then one day she walked out of her job in London to go back to Argentina for the first time in 20 years. She travelled across the vast spaces, encountered the warmth of the people, discovered the rich culture, and fell in love all over again.

Toby Green first visited Chile in 1992, when he spent a year teaching English in Santiago and travelling the length of the country from Arica to Tierra del Fuego. He has returned several times since, while developing a career as a writer and editor. He has written features and reviews for many of the UK national papers and is the author of two works of narrative travel, SADDLED WITH DARWIN (translated into six languages and nominated for two literary prizes) and MEETING THE INVISIBLE MAN. He lives in Gloucestershire, where he does his best to avoid learning how to drive.

Janak Jani was born in London and spent part of his childhood in France and East Africa, before going on to read Philosophy at Cambridge. He lived, worked and travelled in over 20 countries in four continents until, enchanted by the magic of Valparaiso, he decided to settle down. He now owns and runs a guesthouse there with his partner, Lorena.

A story with morals4
This is just one book (Brother Selfish Learns a Lesson is a separate book). Benito is very materialistic and a show off, one day he sees someone much less fortunate and this is the turning point. Fun way to teach kids some good values.

lovely fun story4
I bought these books for my cousins aged 5 and 7 and they loved the characters and fun story line! Nice to throw in the moral too! YOu can get more glokidz things from there website www.glokidz.com there is a fun printable games page!

Waste of time1
Found this book to be inaccurate, out of date and completely unhelpful. The maps do not correspond to the descriptions and most of the places cited no longer exist.
