Synopsis
This extraordinary book is based on the collective wisdom of the scores of contributors to the MoneySaving Old-Style section of MoneySavingExpert.com - the award-winning, trend-setting website which, in less than four years, has attracted over one million UK users a month. The Old-Style forum started when many of the older visitors to the site decided to share their accumulated knowledge with other younger users. It has swiftly developed into a discussion on living life cheaply, healthily, ethically and thriftily, with all generations together searching for a path to Old-Style bliss. Edited by Martin Lewis who, as well as being the founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, is a newspaper columnist, TV and radio money guru and presenter, and author of the bestselling The Money Diet, this lively book cannot fail to appeal to anyone who is interested in living better for less. The book includes hints and tips on: - How to budget - Cooking from scratch - Cleaning for pennies - Gardening - Making homemade gifts - How to shop

FANTASTIC little book with loads of good tips.5
This book has loads of little tips for getting round things in everyday living. Its Chaptered with Bills, Cleaning, DIY, presents & Gifts and even a very good chapter on Xmas! There are loads of good tips on reducing bills, cleaning and stains etc. There's one tip which me and my family and friends love - Dishwasher Tablets - break them in half and use only half of it in the dishwasher. Me and my family thought what a load of rubbish. But we tried it only to find it still gives a good wash - just like normal in fact! So the 50 tablets we have will actually give us 100 washes ! Reading more of the book you'll find more great one's like that. Here's another strange one - but it does work - to remove dirty fingerprints on walls use a piece of white bread!

i must admit this book didt work for me.but its probably because im such a thrifty person any way, there was nothing to learn.i almost wanted to add a few of my own tips,if your young and starting out or in debt then its the book for you.

Useful for the retired etc3
I found this book had helpful tips for saving money in an old fashioned way however a lot of them ie baking your own bread etc are very time consuming. I was slightly dissapointed with the book as i felt it would incorporate more modern fresh thinking ideas however i would still recommend the book and feel that if you have the time you can make substantial savings
