Customer Reviews

I can't wait to read more books penned by Kate Kerrigan!!5
What a wonderful book! It was recommended to me by an older family friend who had learnt that I had recently married. I feel that it was her way of trying to tell me what she had learnt in a very long marriage without being intrusive or patronizing. And I'm so glad she did! Whether you're passionate about food, eating it or preparing it, or even if you're not this book is a warm, intelligent 'can't put it down' kind of read. 'Recipes for a Perfect Marriage' should be handed to persons ,young and old, as a manual on getting through life with another person. It offers up humour, comfort, brute honesty and a wisdom that you could sadly go a lifetime without knowing. Kate Kerrigan is an emotionally intelligent genius with a beautiful flair for writing. She clearly writes from the heart. My Marriage and outlook on life is better for having read this delightful book. Read it if you want to understand life and love better!

I bought this after reading a review and the title caught my curriosity.
It took me a few months to start reading it due to time constraints and kicked myself for not opening it sooner. When I did, I couldnt put it down. It swaps between two lives, two generations apart, but the parallels they draw are remarkable. It gave me solace at a time I needed it most.
I reread the book a second time and the last few chapters again and again. Very thought provoking. Gives food for thought for those wondering where life is taking them.

An ode to marriage the "old-fashioned way", where loyalty and commitment and `realistic' love are so much more important than romance, passion, or being swept off one's feet.

Sweet and heartwarming and though very much about `the right thing to do' it just manages to escape becoming `preachy'.
