Appallingly bad
It's difficult to put into words how bad this book is, especially as others have already done better than I could hope to do. I have read loads of excellent self help books and this is the only one I think I have ever thought negatively about. It is pure rubbish. What seems like an endless list of chapters with only one or two pages on practically every aspect of life, short of how to boil an egg or use the toilet, though at least the pages of this book would have some practical use in performing the latter of those two actions.
I try and make it a habit in life to never give advice, so please take this as a strong recommendation - AVOID THIS BOOK! Throw your money in the waste bin instead, it'll take less of your time.
Don't let this book take up valuable real estate on your bookshelf
I was very disapponted with this book. After reading the first few chapters I resigned to scanning it for useful or interesting points. Each chapter is merely 1-3 pages long and made up of pointless or common sense snippets. Like a previous review the only new information I took from the book was 'you don't need tailor made suits' which isn't a real big insight. Some of the chapters had me laughing & others shaking my head in disbelief.
Another let down from this book is the week-in-the-life-of. I have heard good things about these parts of Mr. Trumps books, but was deeply bored as any interesting point was glazed over such as 'the contactor called quoting the cost at $100,000 over budget, but I managed to negotiate him to $100,000 below budget' - how? Instead he conintues to go on name dropping and telling us where he was getting lunch from that day.
I would recommend you save you money or if you feel the need buy 'Trump: The Art of the Deal'. As an American review put it 'Don't let this book take up valuable real estate on your bookshelf!' - I couldn't agree more.
Interesting & motivational from the King of NYC real estate
If like me, you knew who Donald Trump was, but it was the TV reality show "The Apprentice" that really brought him to my attention, then this book is the perfect place to begin....
Trump's books, all of them, are very lavish and quite self indulgent, people don't sometimes like this form of writing and some call Trump "arrogant" or "self involved" but if you wish to fully understand these books, you have to already accept that Mr. Trump is the best in his league, his "arrogant" attitude is really just confidence, and his "self involved attitude" is just someone who is confident enough to know they are good - it all seems fair to me!
This book, Think Like A Billionaire, is a good place to start if you wish to read about Donald Trump - the books are not, as some think, boring page after page of useless business advice, and others claim the books to be low on advice, but this book is a geat combination of two things - Trumps sound advice, that is practical and makes sense, and a keyhole peep into the life that being a Billionaire is like.
The books has a lot of content in it, spanning from property advice to style advice (luckily though, none about hair!) from a billionaires point of view. The book is very interesting and makes you really want to just live like Trump can afford to.
Imagine if you will, a combination of a Jackie Collins novel and a university Business book, and you get where Trump is coming from, its a medium between a lavish lifestyle and a ruthless and highly talented business man.
Overall, I wont fault the book, it doesnt deserve anything less than 5 stars because before entering into reading about Trump, you have to know what the guy is like, he is confident and very honest, what more do you need from a book!
Dont rely on it if parhaps, your trying to get a 1st in Business, its not a textbook, more of a guidebook into what could lie ahead if you follow the advice at the start of each chapter.
An exiting and motivating read from Trump, and he really is someone who knows what they are talking about!
