This entertaining book takes a quirky look at the world of flexible objects, those items that fold out for use and then fold back in again to save space. Per Mollerup identifies twelve principles of collapsibility and looks at examples of each in turn, before examining collapsibility in furniture of all kinds, from chairs and tables to sofas and storage.Over 500 illustrations bring together design classics, rare historical material, specially drawn diagrams and up-tothe- minute gadgetry in one absorbing and inspiring album.

In depth and interesting objects gallery5
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R2I837PBQR3PNT Not just a design album, this book is also sort of a history book that looks at how collapsibles have evolved since their existence.

There are hundreds of examples included from different eras. Even older designs look great because of the level of creativity involved in creating them.

These designs included foldable bikes, chairs, lamps, ladders and many more. All are categorized by their collapsibility principles. Some of the most common ones include folding like a directors chair, or hinging in a pocket knife.

Each example is captioned to explain the idea, functionality and history behind.

This is a very interesting book.

from small to big and back again3
This is a funny little book, that gives you a lot of good ideas if you live in a small apartement, and is a good help if you are thinking about designing furnitures etc.
