Album Description
It's the voice that touches you first. Soulful and evocative, it lends every emotion, every heartache an intimacy that haunts Helen Boulding's music.Inspired by the simplicity of the 70's singer-songwriters she was brought up on, Helen has created a sound that tells each of her lyrical tales with startling honesty and a passion that leaves no one in any doubt they are listening to the story of her life, one she has been destined to tell musically almost as long as she can remember.Album follows up critically acclaimed performance on BBC1 show The One following previous 2 singles `Breathe' and `Copenhagen'.
Customer Reviews
nearly great
This lady can realy sing !! The last track quite outstanding, but.....in parts the production is poor with a lot of distortion. Might be ok for cheap MP3, but on a good hifi not so good
Disappointed
Up to the release of this album I had heard 12 or so songs on singles which on the whole were impressive, and I was really looking forward to this album.
A lot of those great songs were on this album but instead of great sounding well recorded acoustic brilliance, the production had turned them into middle of the road songs with nothing to distinguish them from a million other pop ditties. I've never been so disappointed in an album. Worst of all I belive she has her own record label and has all the control.
I hope that she goes back to crafting brilliant songs but letting them live instead of smothering them in the production treacle to get more radio airplay.
Maid in Sheffield
This is an excellent album from a lady with real tallent - just buy it.
