Customer Reviews

Not perfect but does the job4
I've just received my Tunecast III. Very simple to operate, but not without it's problems, although these may be down to my MP3 player. Operating the Tunecast is a doddle. Tuned it in OK, preset OK, switch on/off OK, switch between stereo and mono OK. Very simple to use.

I found it switching off for no apparent reason even when connected to the 12V in the car. Turns out the volume on my MP3 player isn't high enough, and the Tunecast decides to switch off as it doesn't think it is receiving a signal. Why this can't be overridden is another matter altogether. Anyway, even with my volume up at it's highest setting, some of my quieter recordings cause the device to switch off.

Apart from this, this is a good device. I suspect I can overcome the problem by re-recording my items at a higher volume, but this will take lots of time. For info, the MP3 player is a Sandisk Sansa E270.

Not fit for purpose2
Having tried a friend's iTrip a while ago, I thought that this would be answer to using my iPod Shuffle in the car. It really isn't.
Although it's very easy to set up, the results are awful and the signal just didn't seem strong enough for the car radio, no matter what frequency was used, and even when the signal was OK for brief periods the hiss was terrible. Sigh.
Returning this today.

Do Not Buy the TuneCast III1
Having read the product descriptions and the mixed reviews in the US on this product, I thought I would give it a try.
Upon receipt I tried it on the stereo in the house with mixed results. There were some frustrations when it decided that it would just switch itself off and I found that the volume needed to be quite high to prevent this.
I then tried it in the car for 3 days and was unable to get a clear signal on any frequency I tried. The only was I could get a clear signal was by holding the thing in my hand or holding it up to the sun roof - a little impractical to say the least.
Even trying the 1 or 2 suggestions in the instruction book was a waste of time.
I have now returned the product and would not recommend it to anyone.
