Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Little known in the UK, rakish DJ Claude Challe is a musical hero in France, a man notorious for putting the "aaaah" back into ambient with his breathtaking collages of exotic chill-out chic. Following the immensely popular Buddha Bar collections, Nirvana Lounge languidly unfolds in much a similar vein. It's a journey that transports the listener through all manner of exotic landscapes and straddles both continent and culture in search of musical paradise. CD1, "Nirvanesque", is a smooth sail through deeply chilled waters, a place where generic trip-hop and pad-heavy mood pieces meet the soothing chink of Balearic pianos and Hindu incantation. More tongue in cheek, CD2 opens with an easy-listening version of "We Are The Robots" and continues in this wry, slyly ironic manner. Kraftwerk go Bossa? In the hands of Challe anything is possible; a world where all kinds of disparate elements blend for that ultimate temple-massaging experience. --Paul Tierney

Challe's best DJ work
Out of all the Buddha bar, Nirvana Lounge, etc type mixed stuff that Claude has done, this is by far my personal favourite. I've been a huge fan of his from early on, thanks mainly to night clubs and parties that play this type of music (such as Future World Funk and One Tree Island). Personal favourites on the album include Silicone Soul, Deep Dive Corp and Carlos Campos.
Due to the expense of the Chall O'Music CD's in this country, If I was just to recommend one on that label it would be this one!
yet another belter!
As I own all the other Claude Challe CDs (even the one not mentioned on Amazon.co.uk - Les Bains Douches), I consider myself fairly qualified to comment..... First hearing and I thought "hmmmmm- this guy has run out of the brilliant cutting edge inspiration"...... i'll give it only 4. HOWEVER- a couple of plays of the whole thing soon elevated it to 5 stars: different from the rest, Challe now chooses intially chooses an Indian flavour, particularly on cd1..... a flavour which does not instantly appeal..... but listen harder and longer and all those brilliant eclectic Challe traits are there- but they have just metamorphised into a slighly different thing. Another essential purchase!! Float away - dance - enjoy. Looking forward to Challe's next offering.
Eclectic brooding at a plane of no return
This takes you away to a mellow Sunday night with you and the person you love, chilling and imagineing how you could possibly get rid of thoes drizzly blues as the rain lashes down. The imagery within the sweet sounds give a splash of colour vibrant with the Asian mystery. You never feel out in the cold with this album.
