Warm, sensuous, tropical grooves from, er, Germany5
Boozou Bajou is one of those names that kept creeping up on quality lounge and chill compilations from the likes of Compost and Guidance. Being a big fan of quality downtempo, this tickled my curiosity so i thought I'd give their solo effort a go.

Despite the exotic moniker, it's simply two knob-twiddlers from Germany who describe themselves as 'musical ethnologists'. This album is basically a musical description of their journey around South America collecting a myriad of sounds and old reggae 7 inches. Their collectors mentality means that the sounds they amassed on their travels have been meticulously and carefully arranged with astonishing attention to detail. Crafty conga workouts, tropical sound effects, touches of jazz and dub samples combine to create a rich and exotic atmosphere of intense heat and hunidity. Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt.

Boozoo Bajou's motto may well be 'less is more' - most tracks are sparsely arranged but none the less effective for it. Mainly instrumental but never formulaic, every sound contributes something to the mix and even silence is used to create a mood or an opportunity for reflection.

For those who like to groove, from the comfort of the sofa.

Satta Down and Chillout......5
While there are some record labels that claim to have Chillout/downbeat/trip-hop acts on their label, so Stereo Deluxe actually have. Boozoo Bajou are all that you could ask for if you really want that post club chill, there are no poor tracks on this CD, all of them, straight from the fridge, stand-outs are the YMA, Camioux, Night over manaus and under my sensi, if you really have any energi left at the end of a nights action, then Yoruba Road will satisfy as you pour yourself that nightcap before settling down to chill.
There are tablas, loops, dub and unintrusive samples used through this CD which makes it very listenable, If you genuinely love Chillout music you will love this CD I'm sure....

Sit back and feel cool5
This is a soulful lazy sounding album which will make you nod rhythmically with the intriguing percussion, washed out rhodes and sweet guitar. Minimalist and hypnotic, the world is a cooler place for this cd. If you like it, check out thievery corporation's remix of under my sensi, its just a shame its not on the album.
