Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Sirens, industrial noise, and ultra-intense vocals from singer-programmer-guitarist Martin Cock kick off The War of Art's aptly titled opening cut, "A Violent Reaction", and from there this 16-cut debut from American Head Charge serves up more heavy nu-metal bolstered with intelligent, disturbing lyrics. Like Slipknot, Mudvayne, Slayer and other doomsayers, this seven-piece line-up's severe musical and lyrical take on modern society is more for moshing than humming, though songs like the surprisingly melodic and dynamic "Just So You Know", the spooky "Fall" and "Effigy 23" break up the grind of songs like "Seamless" and the pounding speed-metal onslaught of "Americ*** Evolving into Useless Psychic Garbage". Troubled teen types will likely worship AHC's deftly produced (by Rick Rubin), well-conceived and fully realised songs and approach. The attention and care AHC put into the songs is evident. --Katherine Turman

could have been better
this has some class songs on here,in fact it has some superb songs, its metal with anger and meaning, its fun, however what takes away from its greatness is a self indulgence in just one or two songs too many that offer nothing and devalue and some of the good songs could be better if they were just a minute or two shorter, its as if american head charge just wanted to put all there eggs in one basket, sometimes an album just needs 12 songs, sometimes it needs ten, here it just drones on a bit towards the end but like i say when this album rocks it really takes no prisoners,so give it a go even if its just borrowing it from a friend
outstandingly brilliant
When i first heard this i was in awe, like nothing id heard before, the production is flawless, the music is intense, powerful and intelligent.
A few songs stand out on this album, namely "self", my particular favourite, filled with intense sounds and a highly emotionally charged vocal.
The rest of the songs are almost as good, this is one album you really must own, a groundbreaker.
Multi-leveled brillant metal album
At first hearing this album I was not blown away at an instant as it is the case with some brillant metal albums. However, the one thing this album needs is time. Give it time to listen through the whole album. You will intrigued. The more you listen to it the more you love it and each time noticing new. Its great just listening to the lyrics and being amazed by the vocal range. Yet its worthwilde picking out the individuals instruments on a listen just to realise the great complexity of this music and the quality of this album. The overall blend between guitars, drums, electronica samples, soaring and screaming vocals. The blend of theese elements to make one coherent masterpiece is the best I have heard.
