Perfect party music for the discerning house music fan
Unlike many other 'big-name' house DJ's, Carter has clearly put a lot of effort into putting together this mix. Jon doesn't fall into the trap of chucking in obvious hits to sell his mix. He has managed to achieve with this mix what many Dj's fail to do in a shorter made for CD mix- their is a progressive feel to it which gives a real taster of his skills. The tunes range from straight up funky house to more Latino based tunes, all ideal to make you move your feet. Perfect party music for the more discerning house music fan.
Viva Jon Carter!!!!!
While sifting through the racks upon racks of CD's in my local music store not really knowing what I was after, I came across "Viva Bugged Out", sitting neatly in the alternative section. I had read loads of good reviews about it but it had seemingly been overshadowed by the likes of new material from Paul Oakenfold and more recently, Sasha. I decided to give it a go, not really knowing what I was buying.
Having had the CD for a little under 2 months now, I am thoroughly chuffed with it. It encompasses the widest range of sounds from chilled out tribal beats to funky up tempo grooves you swear you have heard somewhere. This CD cannot fail to appeal, and is perfect for just whacking on the stereo and relaxing to. None of the tracks failed to impress me, but my preference would have to be "Need I Say More" featuring Scanty, "Work" and "Equitoreal" by the tribally-influenced Dubtribe Sound System.
In short, this CD is nothing short of a masterpiece, and why Jon hasnt got the recognition he deserves for it escapes me. The input from other well known artists swayed it for me (as I am a big fan of Masters At Work), but Carter really does shine throughout. Any mood is the right mood for this CD, and it wont fail to appeal to any discerning taste. Superb!!!
