Released three years after his departure from Black Sabbath, DIARY is Ozzy's second solo album. A true metal masterpiece, the record features Randy Rhoads (previously in Quiet Riot). DIARY and its successors showed that Ozzy could not onlymake it on his own, but exceed his former bandmates in popularity.
"Over The Mountain" rumbles in and features the often imitated-never duplicated soloing of Randy Rhoads. The man is arguably the most influential guitarist in heavy rockbesides Eddie Van Halen. "Flying High Again" follows, and is Ozzy's ode to non-stop partying. "Tonight" is a wonderful ballad, showing Randy's tasteful restraint. "S.A.T.O". is vintage Osbourne, with metal riffage only he can deliver. The title track begins with beautiful electric and acoustic guitar overdubs, and concludes the record with bombast. It is clear the Ozzman is at his peak on this album. Ozzy will neverbe considered a "singer's singer", and his penchant for biting the heads off live animals may overshadow his musical abilities. But albums like DIARY show why he will forever be the Godfather of Heavy Metal.

Blizzard's Best
This is by far superior to the previous Blizzard LP in terms of sound, production and strength of songwriting. There are only 8 tracks, of which Little Dolls is a definate filler and whose inclusion we could have done without, and Believer is only bearable for the guitar solo - but the remainder are musical gold.
However, this only gets 1 star because of the removal of Kerslake and Daisley. I guess the guitar parts would be replaced by a modern "name" if it meant earning some extra $$$$ ??
Avoid this ...
This is not the original album its a clobbed together mess, put together so as to avoid paying royalites to the original bass player and drummer, Spiteful in the extreme, Turns out ozzy never even wrote the lyrics for most of his songs as he was too bombed , but that doesnt look good so he and his wife Shazza are trying to change history , Im glad Randy doesnt have to witness this betrayal.. Avoid this get the 1995 reissue , its 1000% better
Insulting to the original Band Members (Who Also wrote the Music and Lyrics)
Agree totally with other 1 star rating. This original album and it's previous Blizzard of Ozz are absolute master class pieces of Rock Music. The fact that the bass-drums have been removed and session musicians brought in by the osbourne corporation is insulting to the band members,Fans and the music industry.
Get the originals.
