Excellent classical/world crossover album
This album will probably dismay those fans of the Yo-Yo Ma "brand": this is about as far from Bach as one can get. For classical purists who look down on Yo-Yo's jug band excursions and tango escapades, this will be a crossover too far. However, perhaps they should persevere, as the music is as beautiful as it is (occasionally) challenging. They may then develop an interest in non-classical music, and discover the joys of fandom, searching out other musics. On the other hand, they may just leave the disc to gather dust. So, Yo-yo-ists, rise to the challenge and try it! After a few goes, you'll have forgotten how un-European it is and started to enjoy the emotion, drama and beauty of a completely different genre.
