Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Reanimation is the evil twin of Linkin Park's 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory. While plotting their next studio album, the Southern California band enlisted some of aggro rock's leading lights, as well as some of the more enlightened underground MCs and producers, to slice and dice all the songs on their debut (including a few bonus cuts that made it to their Japanese release). Linkin Park allowed their special guests--including Korn's Jonathan Davis, Staind's Aaron Lewis, Orgy's Jay Gordon, the Roots' Black Thought, and Jurassic 5's Chali 2NA--to run riot through their songbook, tweaking melodies, writing new lyrics and sometimes changing the entire intent of the originals. As a result, this collection of 20 songs is Mr Hyde to Hybrid Theory's Dr Jekyll.

Most of Linkin Park's atmospheric and melodic moments have ended on the cutting-room floor--along with the self-consciousness that pervaded many of the songs--replaced with a brash impudence that's more rap than rock. Chali 2NA entirely changes the landscape on "Forgotten", shape-shifting the song into an alien being dubbed "Frgt/10", which takes you to a dark, desolate place with only your own disturbed thoughts and some electronic bleeps for company. And that's enough. This is a masterful art project that truly succeeds. --Jaan Uhelszki

Customer Reviews

Well produced and interesting! LISTEN WITH HEADPHONES...4
Very enjoyable, especially as remix albums go!
Many of the Hybrid Theory tracks are improved on, and there is some excellent production work at play here. Yes, you do need an open mind as the tracks edge further from Metal towards Hip Hop & Electro.
Recommended alongside Mike Shinoda's excellent Fort Minor project...

Excelent better than Hybrid Theory5
This CD is better than hybrid theory
Most remix cd's ruin the legacy but this raises the bar
Also makes me cycle faster on me mountain bike this and rage against the machine will get you to your cycle destination faster and thats a fact!!!!

Not just a remix album5
To call this album a 're-mix' of Hybrid theory, would be like saying the Mona Lisa is just 'a painting'. It's a completely successful re-working of a masterpiece and in this day and age, that's an extremely rare thing.

This album is probably my favourite out of all Linkin Park's albums, and I almost feel a little disappointed that the band haven't done similar follow up albums to 'Meteora' and 'Minutes to Midnight'. (But I still am holding on to the hope that they will!).

My favourite tracks have to be Pts. OF Athrty and Krwlng. These tracks give the original songs a complete different sound and feeling to them. A master class in originality, and I know it's been said to death in all the other reviews, but it just shows what a talented bunch the band are.

Awesome!
