Product Description

Mercury Prize-nominated debut album from London-born femalenu-soul/hip-hop duo. The pair are big news in the US, thanks to their songwriting credits for such stars as Michael Jackson and Jill Scott. Their sultry, downtempo and melancholy songs are powered by the combination of smoothly sung soul vocals and spoken-word "floetry" in the vein of the Last Poets or Gil Scott-Heron.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
It's hard to imagine two more happening babes than Floetry singer Marsha Ambrosius and emcee Natalie Stewart, a.k.a. the Songstress and Floacist. The UK duo's Floetic debut has it all--smooth R&B, soulful jazz, hip-hop, spoken word, supple ballads and a warmth that cradles the listener from beginning to end. In short, it's exquisitely, decidedly feminine. The pair occasional raise the roof with sizzling rhymes and beats, but they clearly place a premium on vibe, evident in Floetic's mostly chilled, after-dark feel.

Jill Scott and Michael Jackson have already benefited from Floetry's deft songwriting; Jacko covered Floetry's "Butterflies" on his Invincible disc. A demo version of that song is included here, but that's the least of the bounty. "Hello" is pure honey, with the women's silky voices braided in harmony while the dreamy, gently gurgling "Sunshine" is like a soundtrack to a daydream. Comparisons abound (Lauryn Hill-meets-Dionne Warwick as scored by a blunted De La Soul maybe?) but perhaps the best description of Floetic yet unearthed is "sass and soul". At almost 70 minutes long it's a steal. --Kim Hughes

You don't know what you're missing5
Fantasic. Again another item I bought on a whim. Totally chilled to it, the first time I play it. Recommend this to everyone.

One of the bets albums I have ever purchased!!!5
If you wana chill out after a long day, tell someone that you truly care for them or just let off some steam from anyone giving you grief !!!THIS IS THE ALBUM!!! to cure all those problems.

The beautiful tones of Marsha (songsterss) and the mellow flow of Natalie(floacist), give this masterpiece of an album the edge and differentiates them from everyone else.

Some of my favourites:'Now you're gone','Getting late' and 'Hey you' all tell a very detailed and different story from all the rest of the tracks. Each track has its own originality. The track titled 'Butterflies' was written by Marsha and was used by Michael Jackson appearing on the 'Invincible' album. Although his is a better rendition, Floetry had put that song on the table.

Personally, I have no faults with this album, it is incredible!!! I recommend it to anyone and everyone.
This group is very under-rated and should be noticed for all the talent they have. Not only do they perform but they wrote the majority if not all of the tracks. Also since they are English and reign from South London, I feel I have to state they are one the best groups from the U.K. They have had more success in the U.S than any other manufactured r'n'b groups from the U.K trying to make it through to the U.S.

I give full props to Floetry! I love you guys! Keep doing your thing!
Keep reppin SE5!!! xXx
