Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Fallen, the debut album from Evanescence (a previously unknown quartet from Little Rock, Arkansas) was given a nice boost by the Daredevil soundtrack. Their songs "My Immortal" and the imposing "Bring Me to Life" are clear stand-outs in the film, mainly because they work so well with the dramatic, eerie undertones of the story line. They reappear here on the band's debut, alongside a selection of similarly brooding tracks that evoke pensive artists such as Tori Amos and the Cranberries. Vocalist Amy Lee has the kind of voice that can cause weeks of insomnia, but on songs such as "Tourniquet" and "Haunted" she belies the music's sinister mood with even-handed spirituality, thoughtfully letting some light shine through the tempest. --Aidin Vaziri
Customer Reviews
excellent stuff
I was first introduced to "My Immortal" by my dance teacher...I found it so beautiful & passionate, I just had to find out what the rest of the album was like. I have since bought it & it's well & truly stuck among my favourites. Amy's voice is amazing, & the writing..? Never a dull moment, never a moment like any other: excellent stuff
Great Album
Heard Evanescence playing over the radio one day and was hooked immediately! I loved the combination of the powerful rock and gothic style with the delicate tones of the vocals and strings. The lyrics are hauntingly beautiful and often quite insightful! Favourite song is "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" which gave me chills the first time I heard it; the lead singer Amy really excels vocally on the latter track.
Haunted
Evanescence. Everyone loves them. Everyone is obsessed with them. Evanescence is just... You know... Evanescence. Now, I like them, not my favorite band ever, not my least favorite, but I even have I admit. This album rocks. My Immortal and Hello are the two best songs on the album and my two favorite songs by Evanescence. One of my first proper albums that were not S Club 7. =] They saved me from the travisty of S Club 7. And I thank them for that...
