HUH???
For the love of God, please ignore jwnw12606's review. I mean really!
"During an exhausting shopping trip with my girlfriend I found myself in HMV and decided to *prop my increasingly enlarging head up with* my already huge cd collection."
Sorry, had to edit a little bit of that.
I myself was astounded by this album after buying straight after watching them support 'Chimaira' and have been a fan ever since. By far the highlight of a mixed career but good to hear their recent work (The Big Dirty) is getting back to solid standard. Buy this if you like your hardcore a little dirty.
Every Time I Die's Finest Hour... To Date!
This album finds Every Time I Die at the height of their powers. Last Night In Town was a good album, but this is even better. It follows on a little from Last Night... in that its just as heavy, but this time the production is better, and the riffs are catchier. Plus, the songs here have their own individual identitie's, whereas on Last Night.. I felt that the band created too many similar sounding songs. Hot Damn! though is an incredible modern hardcore record. I Been Gone A While, Floater and Ebolorama are the standout tracks. The songs are dripping with energy and if you like metal, you. will. love. this album. Sadly, last years record Gutter Phenomenan was nothing compared to this. The songs are slower, Keith actually sings melodically far too often, the guy from My Chemical Romance is on it and the riffs aren't heavy.
every time rule <3
OK, as my fave band I am bound to be biased, but what can I say - they have such a raw, unique and chaotic sound - and they dont stick lyrically to the cliches of the hxc/emo/metal genre. In fact, you have a hard time sometimes understanding the lyrics at all, but hay, thats what makes them the band they are.
The music is a balance of complete chaos and rhythmic guitars - no song sounds samey/predictable, sod the usual verse/chorus structure, Every Time I Die have invented their own. The icing on the cake for me is Keith Buckley's singing - raw and eclectic, but never out of key.
Best song - She's My Rushmore.
Oh, and go see these guys live if you can, they put on an amazing show!
