Customer Reviews

soilwork ,oh yeah ,they dont fail us4
soilwork returned in 2005 with this album and it continued their very rich vein of form, granted it had an even more commercial feel but it was still melodic metal, some of the songs wouldnt have seemed lost on the radio if truth be told, but the majority retained the fierce sounds of the legendary swedish band,it isnt their best album but its superb all the same,i cant really find a fault in this, the songs are supremely strong and as usual never outstay their welcome, soilwork have played second fiddle to in flames for a while, their time in the spotlight may arrive upon release of next album

Soilwork... Needs no work5
Skinz & the rest of these has this down to a T!

I'm a long time Soilwork fan and so this new album is something new. It's cleaner than their last albums and more radio freidnly. But that takes nothing away from it's greatness, they have moved away from the gernericness of this genere and made something that is new. It's no revolutiobary but it's nice, it's an album i can play at school or home without people making comments about satan etc

Buy this album and you'll neva want to listen to another band.

Not as technical as their past but BLOODY GOOD!!5
I'd be the first to admit that formulaic modern metal, with melodically sung out choruses and heavy growled verses is fast becoming the new 'nu-metal' so to speak. Riffs are begining to sound all the same, though they may be slightly on the technical side, and theres is lesser and lesser thought being given to overall song and album structure, with many songs being virtualy identical to each other.
However that said, although soilwork may be perceived to be one of these 'modern metal' bands and may be accused of changing their sound to suit the times, this album is quite in a class of its own. The riffs complement the vocals perfectly, and speeds vocals and vocal harmonies are quite exceptional. The production of course is as good as it gets as one has come to expect of any modern metal album, and the musicianship isnt too shabby either; a very tight rythm section complemented with some tasteful solos ('Nerve' and 'One With the Flies' in particular) makes for very good listening. Highly reccomended for metal fans of any kind.
