Album Description
With 2 shows on Radio One, namely The Blue Room and One Music, Rob Da Bank is building a reputation with his diverse yet popular music policy. Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings has been releasing records since 1997 with first outings from Lemon Jelly through to its current rosta including Grand National, Lazyboy and Max Sedgley to name but a few. Sunday Best comprises 2 CDs: the first a truly inspired Balearic collection of old and new classics; the second collects some favourite tunes and fresh signings from the Sunday Best stable.
Customer Reviews
Curiouser and curiouser
The only DJ on the radio with enough irreverence, intelligence, eclecticicism and conviction to fill the void left by Peel, Mr. Da Bank is a leading light in all things to make you smile. His Sunday Best sessions have unearthed many talents from Lemon Jelly to Max Sedgeley. This collection is a real rag-bag of stuff, covering all bases. Some adjectives to use here are light, affectionate, wonky, funny, quirky, imaginative, unpredictable. Standout tracks: Max Sedgley: Happy (Spiritual South Go Happy in Rio Mix)...a samba band is used to inject spark and dancefloor fuel to this classic Max Sedgeley tune. Daisy Daisy: Michelle Plays Ping Pong...table tennis samples used for the drum track on this odd tune, with slurred sleazy female vocal to add spice. Whitey: The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Is A Train....dream soundscape with hawaian guitar. All these are Five star tunes... the eclectic nature of the collection is bound to annoy as many as it delights, but if you are a regular listener to his radio shows, it's an essential purchase.
