Taproot returns to the scene with Blue-Sky Research, their melodic yet hard-hitting follow-up to the critically acclaimed Welcome. Studio wiz Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Kiss, Korn) pushed the band to write over 80 songs for this record. The hard work has paid off handsomely, as Blue-Sky Research delivers not only on every song, but as a cohesive album.

Customer Reviews
A new Taproot?
I first got into taproot after buying their debut album 'gift' when it first came out after a string of great reviews, i was not disappointed! There second album 'Welcome' came out and i heard the song 'poem' and liked it but never ended up buying the album, I should have because I lost years not being able to listen to this great band. Because I had no clue that 'Blue sky research' had come out I was more than happy when i found it on the amazon market place for around £2, a bargain indeed.
It is nothing like 'gift' and really not much like' welcome' either, they still have some great crushing guitar riffs, but I would have to say that taproot have become more 'mainstream'. This is by no means a bad thing, the song writing is truely amazing and Stevens voice unique and powerful.
This album is song after song of catchy chord progressions and amazing choruses. If your a fan of taproot you will love this album, it can not fail to bring a smile to your face and before you know it you have listened to the album through about 12 times!
Highlights for me are 'calling', 'april suits' (pure cheesy guitar riffs but amazingly done, always a winner), 'lost in the woods'. To be honest I could mention the whole album here, but give those a listen and you will want to buy the album anyways.
I paid £2 for this album, but dont feel cheated if you pay £20, you will listen to it enough to warrant a price tag of that ammout, but get it while its cheap on amazon and you will have a new favorite album for cheap, whats better than that?
amazing
Oh my god, this is so much fun; I had never heard of Taproot before, and I accidentally bumped into this cd.
It is wonderful. Very addicting!
The vocals are quite melodic, but also very powerful, which balances them out perfectly. There are some surprising elements, like the choice of chords, the drumming, the modest amount of grunting,... which I all appreciate immensely.
If you like Tool for example, and are looking for melodic metal which is just a wee bit more fluent, this is an interesting band to discover.
Great album from melodic metal kings
2 years on since welcome taproot present blue-sky research a vast improvement on both previous albums. the new album takes the heaviness of there doubt gift and the melody from welcome and meld them perfectly making an album that is not only more accessable for everyone it's full of great songs and should be purchesed regarless if you are a fan or not. Stand out tracks are I Will Not Fall For You, Violent Seas, Birthday, Facepeeler, Lost In The Woods, So Eager, Promise and the instrumental album title track which then fades in to What's Left probably the heavist song on the album. This album is a good introduction to people who like a little bit of melody with there metal. Overall the boys are on to a winner with this one which will hopefully give them the huge fanbase they deserve!!
