Customer Reviews
Keep Moving!
Forget the ordinary disco mixes; get your body moving , turn up the volume, add some alcohol + sunshine and have a good time! I've been into dance music of all genres since the early 1960s, (yes, I'm supposedly over the hill) but who gives a fig, life is too short. A great compilation for a good time.
not what i expected
i was looking forward to another masters at work album as ive been collecting them over the years.when the album arrived and i put it through my speakers i was very dissapointed with the lack of happy soulful tunes they mix with.seems very dull compared to the other albums i have.....keep up the good work though guys..¬
Masters at Work are still the Masters
Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez and 'Lil' Louis Vega are the Masters At Work. The MAW name and logo are synonymous around the world and the logo, in fact, has now become a standard quality mark in the industry............And this CD is no exception.
I have been a fan of the MAW since my love for House music blossomed in the early 90's and since then they have not failed to continually raise the bar and set the standard for all mixing and production, and I'll give you an idea of how good the mixing is on this CD. When I first listened (Louis Vega mix 1) I was driving and when I stopped at lights I looked at the track listing thinking it was track 2, but when I checked it was already at track 4. The mixing is so subtle and blended with such skill and accuracy it is amazing.
Louis Vega eases you into mix 1 with some cool latino vibes then takes a deep progressive turn. He progresses into some pumping vocal house and then hits you with the deep progressive classic Gravity by Selan and into this mixes the hand raising 2006 top track Let's Be Young by Quentin Harris. Tribal stomper Jero by Dennis Ferrer then follows. Then a mix for all house heads. House classic Love & Happiness by River Ocean Tito mixed with Julien Jabre's 2006 beauty Swimming Places. It sound's incredible!
Kenny Dope gives the listener no respite as he opens up with Ruffneck's pumping vocal classic Baby You. He keeps it bouncy and vocal but then gets dirty with 2006's dance floor killer Shake It by DJ Rooster and Sammy Peralta. It then takes a tribal twist and then it goes deep with Steve Edwards and Big Strong Love and then lifts the vibe up with Tina Brossard's vocal classic Joy. A top mix.
Both mixes are of extraordinarily high quality. And the listener is taken on a journey through all genre of the music.....Vocal, Soulful, Tribal, Deep, Gospel, Progressive, Funky.......And there are even some breaks thrown in. The good thing you get with all MAW mix's is that they always experiment and you will get anything but the bog standard 4-beat mixing you can hear on any other bog standard mix. The track selections change the mood constantly and you really do no know what's coming next.
This is a must for any collection. Please buy it. You won't be disappointed.
