Editorial Reviews

From the Label
Nearly one year on, and the sands have shifted for Camille. Last year, she was the front-runner vocalist of Nouvelle Vague, with a solo studio album under her belt. Then she released Le Fil to enormous acclaim in France.

For those of you who have not yet heard her, Camille's voice is a '"once heard, never forgotten" experience. Her crystal clear vocals, by turn childlike, whimsical, quirky and pensive, have already induced comparisons with Bjork but her playful tones - sourced by turn from Gallic and African musics - are never less than her own. Writing about this comparison in the Observer Music Monthly, DJ Charlie Gillett says "I prefer Camille whose experiments and emotional expression feels more natural and spontaneous and convincing".

On her recent brief trip here for her first ever UK performance at Jazz Cafe, Camille attached rave "live" reviews from; The Observer "...if you still want convincing that French pop can be truly special, look no further than Camille....a ravishing voice of her own", Independent On Sunday "Camille is one of the world's greatest popstars. The world just doesn't know it yet" and The Guardian "A quirky and daring London debut".

Customer Reviews

Pointless - unable to listen to on your iPod1
I am very irritated to find that the excessive rights protection on this album means I can't save it to my iPod. I won't be able to listen to it so I will be returning it straight away. What a waste of time. It also crashed my PC bringing down all the other applications I had running.

She seems like a great artist but, all the same, I would advise against buying this CD.

no ipod?...1
shame, heard some of the songs, and would have bought this. but if i can't play it on my ipod, how i listen to most of my music, then i don't think so.
hope the manufacturers are reading.

Irritation1
It may seem a little presumptuous to rate an album I've yet to listen to. But since it won't let me listen on my ipod, it's going to be a while before I get round to doing that. Good work from Virgin Music - I'm now going to be very careful about ever buying any of their CDs again..
