Rockin DVD
I was at the Hyde Park concert and it was a windy day and the sound although in quadrophonic sound kept coming and going which was damn annoying.
The DVD removes all this and is absolutely without question or doubt the best music DVD that is available on planet earth and brings such fantastic memories of the whole day, drunk Ozzies everywhere but such vibrant fun people I'll never forget their zest for the now and damn tomorrow, made me 10 years younger.
The only disapointment is that the two disc set could have been made up from the supporting acts on the day, Julia And The Licks who were stunning,Motorhead who took the wrinkles out of my face for 40 minutes and still must make all other bands feel inferior and the kick ass Queens Of The Stone Age who have the gift of being better live than on record. Angels and Airwaves played as well but didn't get them at all.
If you want the goosebumps on your arms type feeling get this DVD for the Hyde Park concert alone. Grohl loves the UK and his fans her and by god does it show.
Skin and Bones
This is a superb DVD of two Foo Fighters concerts. You get the amazing Hyde Park 'rock' concert, as well as the more sedate, but just as good Hollywood 'acoustic' concert. The foos play with equal passion and interact with the audience for both types of gig and it's great to see both sides of their music. You get a great selection of tracks, including the ever popular and anthemic 'My Hero' and 'Everlong'. Overall a great music DVD for fans, showing one of the best and most respected bands in music today. Well worth a look.
More stellar performances from a longtime favorite band
As a longtime American fan of the Foos, all I can say is that all of you fans in the UK are more than lucky to have this dual DVD set available over there. Here in the States, only the "Skins And Bones" DVD is sold. Thankfully, I was able to obtain a copy of the "Hyde Park/Skin And Bones" set through amazon.co.uk. I won't go into detail what others have said about both concerts, but definitely Dave and company have both the wild side and soft side. On "Hyde Park", Dave goes all out and rocks out like he never has before! He goes to great length to make sure all 85,000 fans are having a great time. On "Skin And Bones", you see a more revealing side of Dave. With the acoustic guitars and instruments, Dave and company manage to get as much of their sound across without having to resort to loud, electric guitars, pounding drums, and screaming. And especially in a smaller, more intimate setting (theatre instead of stadium). Bottom line, Dave and company are both great in the loud and soft settings, and the "Hyde Park/Skin And Bones" set showcases both of those environments. You won't be disappointed for sure. Can't wait to see them rock out here in Massachusetts this coming February!
