Customer Reviews
Beautifully eloquent.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Gwyneth live twice at the Stables. She is fantastic live and I would encourage anyone to go and see her if they have the chance.
This album is beautiful. Lyrically it's lovely, and it sounds wonderful too. It feels like a Gwyneth album, like it has some of her personality shining through.
My personal favourites are "The Woman Meets The Wiseman", "That's The Kind of Man" and "Whisper Low."
unique singer-songwriter record
A fresh, moving, witty selection of material, immediately striking and accessible, but with layers of musical detail and lyrical interest that repay repeated listening. Combines melancholy and joy with ease.
Between You, Me and the Bedpost
This CD seems to me to be an exceptional achievement in the sphere of recorded niceness and exudes some, but not all, of the charm exuded by Gwyneth Herbert in real life. It will prove agreeable to men of education and good will who are still living with their mothers, and some others, and the antagonisms and clashes surrounding its release are interesting and amusing. It is almost a pity for anybody who is qualified to speak on the subject to express an opinion, but I feel I am performing a public service. Leaving aside Gwyneth's capacity for a few subtle musical nuances, THIS CD IS HARMLESS. Everyone here gets out alive, and moderately entertained. If you work in Richer Sounds, this CD isn't nearly as good as 'Bittersweet and Blue' for demonstrating cheap hi fi.
