CD Description
Jay-Z released REASONABLE DOUBT, his solo debut, in 1996. Only four years later, he dropped his fifth album, THE DYNASTY. Matching his unique off-beat delivery with hip-hop's mostimpressive lyrics, the Brooklyn-native reinforces the idea that he is one of rap's most profound MCs. Once again, Jay-Zshows us he knows about "big pimpin'" with tracks like "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)" and "Parking Lot Pimpin'", tales about the fast life, women, and money.
Still, the rapper doesn't abandon the street ethics that have made him famous, as evident on the hustler's anthem "Streets Is Talking". Limiting the guest appearances to a minimum, besides hisRoc-a-fella camp, he is joined by heavy hitters such as Snoop Dogg on "Get Your Mind Right Mami" and R. Kelly on "Guilty Until Proven Innocent". Inspiring other rappers to think deeply before they put their pen to the pad, Jay-Z keeps getting better, and despite multi-platinum status, he hasn't lost his street credibility.
Customer Reviews
keep it up jigga man!
jay-z has just dropped a classic album, the beats are tight, the lyrics are well thought out and overall this is a quality album. however i cannot stand the high pitched whining of amil, the first lady of the ROC. frankly she does my head in! the rest of the clan bring their own styles which adds to the variety.(bleek gets away from his usual sh*t lyrics to put some decent lines down). the only thing i can say that is wrong with the production is that some of the tracks are a bit too similar and blend together.
Not his Best
This is a very average album. None of the tracks stand out as outstanding or even very good! The best tracks are unfortunatly the singles: I just wanna lov u & Guilty until proven innocent.
This has none of the slick flow or East Coast grit that Reasonable Doubt & Life & Times Volume 3 had, and seems weak because of it.
This album is hard to listen to all the way through, it has no real flow and is not very rewarding. However it's not really the kind of album you can just put on for a few tracks either!
I bought this album and within a week had forgotten all about it, you should too.
If you want a Jay-Z album then buy his debut: Reasonable Doubt which is incredible, or Life & Times Volume 3 which has many very good tracks. Both are great to listen to all the way through but also have stand-out tracks.
FANTASTIC ALBUM
ALTHOUGH I AM A HUGE JIGGA FAN I HAD SERIOUS DOUBTS ABOUT WHETHER THIS WOULD DELIVER THE SAME QUALITY AS PREVIOUS AND PRESENT ALBUMS. HOWEVER AFTER HEARING THE FIRST COUPLE OF TRACKS THESE QUERRIES WERE BANISHED AS THIS ALBUM IS A CRACKER WITH GREAT BEATS, RHYMES AND VERSUS FROM OTHER ROCAFELLA MEMBERS.
