Editorial Reviews

CD Description
The sophomore album from Ice Cube, THE PREDATOR, picks up where his debut, AMERIKKKA'S MOST WANTED, leaves off. Ice Cube uses his killer rap delivery to full effect on funky cuts like "Now I Gotta Wet' Cha" and "We Had to Tear This Motherf**ker Up" in a way that few other MCs can. Benefiting from the contributions of a crew of producers that includes Sir Jinx, DJ Muggs, and DJ Pooh, THE PREDATOR is a vibrant collection of cuts that were created during the L.A. uprising of the early '90s. Ice Cube had been rhyming about the prejudice and social injustices of the L.A. police for years, producing the kind of reality-based material on THE PREDATOR that isclearly an example of life imitating art. Classic tracks from the album include "It Was a Good Day" and "Wicked". THE PREDATOR also has a cool cut called "Check Yo Self", which features Das EFX.

Brilliant and a classic5
This is only rap album in which I can listen to from start to finish without skipping tracks and then start again. I can't understand why this is isn't spoken more highly of-it is absolute gem of lyrical fluidity and emotion.I have seen it criticised for its darkness and anger but to me that's the beauty of it, if you want light hearted fun get some "De La Soul".
I consider this a must have for anybody into rap when it actually had something to say.

The predator not quite top of the food chain4
Ice Cubes album-The predator is one of real quality and worth getting for all you old school hip hop fans. However, fans of new type rap may not be as impressed.

I am a fan of both old and new class hip hop so this appealed to me greatly. There are some superb tracks, some of which appear in the GTA san andreas game.

'It was a good day' is a mega chillout song that really does standout. 'The predator', 'When will they shoot' and 'You aint gon take my life' are 3 more prime examples of ice cube at his original best. Brilliant lyrics and beats.

'Tear this mothaf***a up' shows ice cubes aggresive side but is one fantastic tune. Old school hip hop fans should love it.

What stops this album being a 5star CD is the fact that there are 4 0r 5 simply average tracks. 'gangstas fairytale 2' is slightly disppointing and 'Wicked', 'Dont trust em' and 'Dirty Mack' are all ok songs.

My final thought-old school hip hop fans YES!! GET IT.
New rap fans........try it.

it was a good day.....4
heard this around about the same time as gravediggaz's first offering and enjoyed this album greatly and still do even though i hate the new stuff (stuff by snoop, dre, m&m...etc etc...)...great songs, good oprah business in the middle, interesting take on some fairy tale characters and a huge bodycount.....well done mr. cube, now please stop........
