Duplication of material with Encyclopedia of Pastel Techniques
This is a useful little book, particularly for having the spiral binding, and covers a lot of ground fairly quickly. However, it is emphatically not a perfect partner for the "The Encyclopedia of Pastel Techniques: A Unique A-Z Directory of Pastel Painting Techniques Plus Guidance on How Best to Use Them" by Judy Martin, despite the Amazon suggestion - there is a lot of material that is duplicated between the two books, and in may instances they use the same pictures to illustrate points. The Bible covers more ground, and goes into very slightly more detail, so of the two I would recommend this one; but you certainly won't need both.
Another really good book in the 'bible' series.
This was the second of the three artists' bibles I bought. They are very good for 'almost' beginners like myself. I hadn't dabbled in pastels for years and knew little about the medium. Within a few hours I had painted my first pastel picture and learnt so many tips that would've taken me months to discover myself. I would trade all my other artist's handbooks for these!
great pastel book
Excellent little book. Concise, well written. Good illustrations. Full of advices and tips. Strongly recommended.
