Customer Reviews
BT 100 Digital baby monitor
Excellent. I was really pleased with the distance at which the monitors work, and how clearly you can hear what's going on at the other end. It has a talk facility, night light, can play tunes and you can put it on mute and if the noise level reaches the 'red' zone your receiver will bleep at you.
I have bought various other monitor and I wish I'd saved my money and bought these in the first place.
Unacceptable software bug, no support. Could be great if fixed.
I gave this 3 stars based on first impressions. Subsequent experience reduces it to one star but Amazon doesn't let you change your rating! If this product worked dependably, it would get 5 stars - when working it's better than the more expensive Philips model I eventually bought its place. But the Philips one is reliable and the BT one isn't.
It's a shame because the product could be great - I've owned a cheaper baby monitor and it wasn't worth having because of interference. This one has all the features you need and the sound is clear. But I've had two examples of this BT model and both had a problem: the sound was occasionally muted for no apparent reason. One reviewer hinted that this is just a question of not understanding the features, but it's not that. (The mute feature was off, and the sensitivity was set to maximum, yet no sound would be heard). So this product is not fit for purpose. It looks like a software bug (randomly occurs about 1 time in 10, and can only be fixed by power cycling the product). It affected both examples I had in Sept/Oct 2008.
BT offer an email support service which they ignore and a helpline number which just played me hold music.
In response to the breaking down comment
I thought this had happened to me then I discovered that (at least in my case) it is a feature. There is a mode where the unit can be set to only turn the speaker on when the sound goes above a preset level. In order to set this level. Press the button bottom left with the picture of an ear on it. Then quickly use the volume buttons to set a level. All the way up turns the "feature" off. It is very easy to accidentally turn this feature on!
