Synopsis
The memoirs of one of the world's foremost experts on death, dying and life after death. The book traces the path she followed from her birthplace in Switzerland to her present residence in Arizona. It explains how her work with relief organizations after World War II influenced her research on death and dying. Kubler-Ross shot to fame in 1969 upon the publication of her seminal work, "On Death and Dying". This book spells out her somewhat unconventional position on life after death as well as her more recent criticisms of the quality of care found in hospitals. Her own story, which takes into account her experiences as a wife and mother, is punctuated with behind-the-scenes accounts of her moving case studies.
From the Back Cover
Dr Elisabeth Kubler-Ross shot to world fame in 1969 upon publication of her seminal work, On Death and Dying. Since then, through her groundbreaking work with the terminally ill she has brought comfort and understanding to millions. Now, confronted with her own death, she offers a work that is as inspiring, insightful and incendiary as anything she has written in the past.
In this moving, much-anticipated memoir Elisabeth Kubler-Ross traces the events that shaped her intellectually and spiritually - events which led her to explain the ultimate truth that death does not exist but is a transformation. We see how her happy childhood formed the solid base from which her outspoken and confident views sprang. From her work in war-ravaged Poland to her pioneering counselling of the terminally ill, her legendary seminars and her eye-opening discussions with people who had been revived after death, we learn how each experience provided her with a new piece of the puzzle.
Dr Kubler-Ross's affirmation of life after death has sent shock waves through the medical and New Age communities alike. The Wheel of Life is destined to ignite further controversy and debate, for it is the thought-provoking final statement on life and living from one of the most inspirational women of our times.

Customer Reviews
A very remarkable story
A remarkable story about a very remarkable woman. Although each reader will have to decide for themselves their interpretation of the author's numinous experiences, her story is extremely inspiring, gripping and positive. No matter what people make of this woman's life and teachings, she has no doubt touched many countless lives in a positive and loving way. If only we could all claim such a feat at the end of our days on this earth...I applaud her caring and humane love for her fellow humankind. Anyone interested in the big questions about life will no doubt enjoy this book.
Must read book, opens hart and mind.
My close friend is dying of the breast cancer and I did not know how to respond, how to talk or how to comfort her. Then I heart about "On death and dying" book that I was scarred to read but as an introduction I read "The wheel of Life". Apart from that the book is excellently written, sent me a message how narrow minded I was. It is one of the book that influenced my life and opened my mind.
Sorry for my English but it is my second language.
A truly beautiful book
Every so often, a book comes along which truly touches the soul. This book is one of them. Every chapter brought a tear or a smile, or rage against the way we treat people in a so-called developed society.
I could not recommend this book more, especially for those who are recently bereaved or living with dying relatives. But we all could get something from it, as it deals with issues of love and is a real beacon of hope. It touches the heart, mind and soul in ways that go way beyond the printed words.
If you only read one more book this year, make it this one.
