Amazon.co.uk Review
This collection of 280 thoughts by Gary Zukav (inspired by his best-seller The Seat of the Soul) is packaged like a one-a-day spiritual vitamin. The spiral-bound book can be propped open on a desktop or a household kitchen counter. Readers simply flip the pages and find a quote to meditate on every day. Some of the quotes are true gems of wisdom, such as, "The decisions that you make and the actions that you take upon the earth are the means by which you evolve"; or, "If you strike without compassion against the darkness, you yourself enter the darkness". Some offer more intellectual fodder than spiritual awareness, such as "Try looking at life as a beautifully well-organised dynamic". And only a few border on clichés, as in, "No two people have the same reality". Nonetheless, Thoughts from the Seat of the Soul makes a great workplace companion--a daily reminder of why we are here and the true work we have before us. --Gail Hudson

From the Author
A NEW HUMAN SPECIES IS BEING BORN
My sister, Gail Zukav-Ross, asked me to create a daily meditation book based on The Seat of the Soul. I liked the idea of a meditation book, but not one tied to the tyranny of the calendar. The ideas in The Seat of the Soul evoke the sacred. They appeal to the deepest and most healthy parts of ourselves. They are not, I felt, to be metered out robotically, even when the meter is the rhythm of the Earth turning on its axis.
The sacred creates its own time. That is why native ceremonies, for example, start when they need to start and end when they need to end. They cannot be confined. Sacred space is without time. We enter it from time, and return to time when we leave it. As we become more practiced in making larger and larger parts of our lives sacred, time becomes less and less important.
I discussed this with my editor, Marilyn Abraham. We came up with this perfect "book". It is spiral-bound at the top, and opens as an easel. You can leave a thought facing you for a month, a day, or an hour. You can put it on your desk, in the bathroom, or at your bedside. It can be used as an oracle, to establish energy for the day, or to remind you of your purpose on this precious planet - spiritual growth.
I thought that creating Thoughts from the Seat of the Soul would be an easy project. It took two years. Excerpts from The Seat of the Soul were carefully chosen by me and my former editor, Barbara Gess, who had retired, but offered her help. Barbara, Marilyn, and I conferred for more than a year on the content. Marilyn and I collaborated for another year on the form of this novel "book". It had to have a "spine" so that booksellers could put it on a shelf. It had to easel. It had to be attractive. Above all, it had to empower all who used it.
I am extremely happy with our cocreation. It is a perfect companion for those who have read The Seat of the Soul, a rich introduction to The Seat of the Soul for those who have not yet read it, and an empowering tool by itself. It succintly conveys some of the most stimulating thoughts that I know -- thoughts about the birth of a new human species, nonphysical guides and Teachers, responsible choice, and aligning the personality with the soul.
If these ideas attract you, you are not alone. They are emerging in, and transforming the lives of, millions. I am still exploring them. If you would like to explore them, also, please visit zukav.com, and we can explore them together.
I am honored to share this time with you.
Love,
Gary
