Synopsis
The author guides the reader along the path of awakening. via Buddhist psychology and the understanding of the mind through meditation. As Buddhism teaches that the mind is the source of all unhappiness, by understanding the mind we can tame it and discover happiness, wisdom, compassion and clarity. Rob Nairn's course on Buddhist psychology is based on his own workshops, and is easy to understand whilst remaining accurate and complete in its handling of this vast subject.

Customer Reviews

Absolute gem of a book!5
I am a meditation teacher and retreat leader and I recommend that all my students buy this book. It is a concise and accurate manual for learning meditation. It is written with sparkling clarity. Rob really knows his stuff! If you want a sound book - free of bias and based on sound personal practice reinforced by the expertise of some of the best meditation teachers that are alive to day - then this is the book. I have not yet anyone who is disappointed in it. It is truly a gem and I anticipate it will become a classic.

A great and practical "how-to" book on meditation5
I'v two bookshelves full of books on (zen) buddhism and meditation but none of them really describes and explains in-depth the practical aspects of meditation. This book does. As a cognitive psychologist the book appeals to me because it is written by a psychologist who doesn't try to mystify things. As someone who meditates the exercises in the book really helped me deepen my meditation.
