Editorial Reviews

CD Description
By the mid-'80s Dio had become one of heavy metal's biggestconcert draws. While such albums as HOLY DIVER and THE LASTIN LINE sold well (both were certified gold), it was Dio's bombastic and highly theatrical stage show that drew the attention of metalheads worldwide.
For their fourth full-length release, 1987's DREAM EVIL, original guitarist Vivian Campbell had been replaced by Craig Goldie (Campbell would return as a hired gun in both Whitesnake and Def Leppard), signaling the band's first line-up change. While the album wasn't as stellar as the two aforementioned titles, such metallicdungeons and dragons epics as "All the Fools Sailed Away" and "Sunset Superman" are standouts.

Great album from the little man with a big voice4
Ronnie James Dio may be small in stature but the guy can sing with the best of them! This is a polished eighties metal album, crunching guitar riffs backed by full synth sounds and a solid rhythm section and little RJD's booming voice. You know the sort of stuff you're going to get here; castles and magic etc. but it's done well. Night People and the title track are my personal favourites, although All The Fools Sailed Away might appeal to any Led Zep fans as it has a real Plant/Page quality to it. If you like 80's rock but want a change of subject matter from sex, drugs and rock n' roll then give this a go.

Dio at his best5
This is my favorite Dio-album. Good heavy metal, good riffs, nice harmonies, good vocal lines. Highly recommended to any fan of quality metal music.

The Best Of The Bunch5
This is my favourite Dio album. There is not one track I find myself skipping on the CD tuner as I drive home on the motorway after work.

Yes some are stronger than others, but it is clear that the line up change had injected a bit of a stimulus into a formula which was in danger of getting stuck in a rut and becoming complacent.

This, next to Holy Diver, is the most essential Dio CD in my collection.
