LIVE IN GERMANY-BETTER THAN ONSTAGE
For most die-hard Rainbow fans- mysalf included- " On Stage" is the definitive live Rainbow album, but the selection of live material on it lacks the band`s most popular number " Stargazer" and the guitsr blitzing " Do you close your eyes". These are two tracks that " Live in Germany" has on it`s tracklisting as well the same tracks as " On Stage" but in different live recordings. For example, " Still I`m Sad" has a bloody amazing five minute drum solo from the late, great Cozy Powell. The epic 17 minute rendition of " Stargazer" features an incredible 5 minute organ introduction by Tony Carey and possibly one of Ritchie Blackmore`s greatest live guitar solos, and the 10 minute " Do you close your eyes" features some equally amazing soloing from Blackmore and Carey, and throughout the album Ronnie James Dio`s amazing vocals bring the songs to life.The only downside is that this live album isn`t as well produced as " On Stage", but it still produces the same, if not slightly more power and mesmerising live intensity of " On Stage". So buy " Live in Germany", crank the volume up full and enjoy.
