Product Description

Eleventh studio album from the undisputed master of the six-string, Joe Satriani. An album based around the loose and seemingly disparate concepts of religion and robotics, the album is a rich, textured work which shows off Satriani's obvious talents to stunning effect. Includes the tracks 'Musterion', 'Overdriver' and 'I Just Wanna Rock'.

Woeful1
This album is just really, really bad. I can't believe these riffs are coming out of the same person who wrote 'Satch Boogie', 'The Extremist' or 'The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing'.

Just come up with a generic riff yourself and listen to that on repeat instead.

I was a bit apprehensive about buying this album as it seemed to be getting mixed reviews and at first listen I wasn't blown away, but I think that is the problem. The reviewers have obviously not given the album a chance if they do they will be rewarded. This album is a grower.

Joe is probably suffering from having such a long career and so many albums. He is a guitarist so there is only so many things he can do as far as changing his sound.

I honestly don't feel there is a weak track on here and to be honest I think his playing on musterion and overdriver is his best in a long time.

If you are new to Joe you should probably check out Surfing With the Alien and The Extremist first as in my opinion they are his finest work but at the same time I think this album stands up well beside those two classics.

Joe is now in his 50's (although he looks 10 years younger) so you have to reward him for trying to be original and still push his playing. Most other artists at that age are happy to churn out duff albums when most of their creative edge has long gone.

I have no reservations in recommending this album.

Rock solid!5
Wonderful! Satriani is a very unusual musician in that he seems to be getting better for every album. Creative instrumental music without getting in to the jazz-morass. Great melodies, creative solos. Not a lot of experimental noise (like a notable friend of his) that makes it a pain to listen to the whole album. The only track I don't rate five stars on this album is Andalucia, and it is not all that bad.
