MkIV at their live best
I've owned "On The Wings Of A Russian Foxbat" for about 10 years, since it was available through Connoissuer records (DPVSOPCD217), and this is an excellent example of just how good Deep Purple with Tommy Bolin could be. As Simon Robinson wrote in his sleeve notes of May '95 ".... we're left with the frustrating conclusion that Mk4 did have what it takes all along....."
Worth buying? If you're a fan of Tommy Bolin and Mk4 Deep Purple, oh hell yes!!! If you're not, maybe this isn't quite for you. Tommy doesn't sound too comfortable with the Mk2 & Mk3 material but when he lets loose with the Mk4 and his own "The Grind" hang on to your aural senses!!!
